01

The challenge

Structural parts are machined in several operations across 3-axis and 5-axis machines. Re-clamping between operations required re-probing and manual checks, and the shop needed location it could trust without adding inspection steps.

Tight clearance around the tool also limited how tall a fixture could be.

02

The solution

The shop adopted a Φ90 zero-point clamping module for its 5-axis tables and Pitch 52 plates on supporting fixtures. The 27 mm plate height leaves more working envelope under the part.

For multi-face jobs, a Three Face Pyramid special from the Custom Solutions range was specified so three sides of the part can be machined from one datum.

03

The results

Re-setup time between operations
60 → 12 min
Re-probing steps per changeover
4 → 1
Specified positioning accuracy of the INNGRIT interface
0.005 mm

Customer quote

“What matters to us is that the part comes back to the same place. That is what we measure, and that is what we get.”
