Knowledge & Support

Frequently asked questions.

Clear answers on zero-point clamping, choosing a system and working with our engineers.

Zero-point basics

What is a zero-point clamping system?

It locates and clamps a fixture or pallet to the same reference point every time. Clamping studs on the fixture lock into plates or modules on the machine table, so you change setups without re-indicating. INNGRIT plates and modules position to within 0.005 mm.

How accurate is INNGRIT positioning?

INNGRIT Zero-Point Plates position to below 0.005 mm. Clamping modules reach a precision of 0.005 mm with a maximum pull force of 1,000 kg.

How thick are INNGRIT zero-point plates?

Every plate in the series is 27 mm thick. The catalogue calls it “probably the thinnest in the world”.

Why use zero-point clamping at all?

Reduce setup time, improve accuracy and keep production moving. Because the reference point never changes, a fixture can leave the machine and return to the same position.

Choosing a system

Which system is right for my application?

It depends on your machine, workpiece and how often you change over. Pitch 52 plates use a 12 mm clamping stud; Pitch 96 plates use a 16 mm stud and carry higher clamping force. Clamping modules come in Φ62 to Φ150 sizes, pneumatic or hydraulic. Share your setup and our engineers will recommend a configuration.

What is the difference between Pitch 52 and Pitch 96?

Pitch 52 plates use a 12 mm clamping stud (HL02724) and offer up to 1,000 kg of air clamping force or 1,500 kg with oil. Pitch 96 plates use a 16 mm stud (HL02727) and offer up to 1,200 kg with air or 1,600 kg with oil. Larger plates go higher still.

Can I use INNGRIT plates with another brand’s zero-point system?

Yes. Universal Plates use a universal pull stud, so they work with the zero-point systems you already run. They come in Universal 52 and Universal 96 formats, with error-proof positioning built in.

What does the AIR option do?

The patented “AIR” option adds integrated air-blow cleaning that removes debris automatically. It suits unmanned and automated manufacturing. Standard and AIR versions are listed as pairs in the catalogue.

Are the clamping modules pneumatic or hydraulic?

Both. Φ62, Φ90, Φ120 and Φ150 modules are available in pneumatic and hydraulic versions, as single, dual, quad and six-station layouts. Not every layout exists in every size, so check the catalogue or ask us.

Automation

Can INNGRIT integrate with automation?

Yes. The Robotic Quick Exchange Arm lets one robot switch between grippers, jigs and hand tools, with repeatable accuracy up to 0.005 mm. Our patented AIR option blows debris off the plate automatically, which supports unmanned and automated machining.

How much changeover time can a robot exchange arm save?

The Robotic Quick Exchange Arm reduces workpiece changeover time by 90%, keeps the datum zero-point unchanged and provides 4,000 kg of fixture clamping force as a 2-piece set.

What can a robot pick up with the exchange arm?

Production jigs, pneumatic or electric grippers, and pneumatic or electric hand tools. Φ62, Φ90 and Φ120 sizes are available.

Custom & support

Can INNGRIT provide a custom solution?

Yes. When a standard product doesn't fit, our engineers adapt dimensions, interfaces or functionality — past examples include 4-axis L-plates, horizontal tombstones and built-in modules. Tell us about your application to get started.

How does customised engineering work?

Five steps: we understand the application and constraints, recommend a practical system configuration, adapt dimensions, interfaces or functionality, validate fit, performance and production needs, then support implementation and ongoing use.

What warranty and after-sales support do you offer?

Warranty coverage is one year from product delivery. Beyond that, our engineers provide application support, setup guidance and user training, and standard replacement units can reduce disruption through backup product support.

Ordering & documents

How do I find the right Item #?

Item numbers start with INN0 followed by four digits, for example INN02479. Standard and AIR versions have separate numbers. Browse the product pages or download the catalogues, or send us your setup and we'll confirm the number.

Where can I get catalogues, 2D drawings and 3D models?

Catalogue PDFs are on the Downloads page. For 2D drawings (PDF) and 3D models (STEP) of a specific item, request them by Item #.

How do I request a quote or become a distributor?

Use the contact form and choose Product Enquiry or Distributor Enquiry. Tell us your machine, workpiece and production goal so we can respond with a practical recommendation.
